About the Club

The Des Moines Disc Golf Club strives to be a resource for golfers of every level and to make the Des Moines area a vibrant, nationally-recognized disc golf community. Founded in 1990, the DMMDGC has been a staple in the central Iowa (515) disc golf community.

We partner with area parks, neighborhoods, businesses and supporters to promote disc golf as a healthy, economical and enjoyable recreational activity for everyone.

2024 Ice Bowl- we raised roughly $3000 for the Food Bank of Iowa during this charity event.

“I started playing DG around 2007. I became a board member in 2009. The reason I decided to step up and take on a board members role was because I fell in love with the community and wanted to do my part. But what came next, I would have never guessed. I wanted to know anything and everything about the sport. I started as Secretary, then VP, and now President. I may be addicted.”

-Amanda Beery, President

“Started playing in AZ back in 2008. I have designed or co-designed 4 courses. Favorite type of DG is at an elevation over 5000ft. Joined the board because I wanted to be involved in what is going on in my community and share my past knowledge. Currently in my 3rd year of serving on the board.”

-Ryan Mapus, Vice President

“I've been playing for 20 years as of 2023. I've been part of the club off and on since 2004. I saw a need for an open position to be filled as Technology Director back in 2018-19. It's pretty amazing to see all the plans in development and brought to life by the Board of Directors.”

-Bruce Meyers, Treasurer

“I have been playing DG since 2002 and was later voted in as the DMMDGC Secretary in 2016, serving 7 consecutive years on the Board of Directors. I really wanted to be a part of something bigger in hopes to help give back to our disc golf community and our beautiful courses. After having children, competitive disc golf wasn't always an option, so I needed a way to be able to stay connected with my disc golf family. Serving as the Club's Secretary was the perfect way to volunteer my time and it also provided an avenue to keep and maintain the many amazing relationships I have gained throughout my years on the disc golf course.”

-Kati Meyers, Secretary

“Started disc golfing in 2007 after much convincing from my brother. I joined DMMDGC in 2008 and joined the B.O.D. in 2009 as course director. Have had the pleasure representing the community as Course Director, VP, President during my time with the board, and I am happy to be back as the course director after a couple of years away.

For me, the best part of disc golf is the friendships built along the way, and I am extremely fortunate that my wife and daughter also love and support disc golf. The best thing about being part of the board is giving back and making things better for the next generation.”

-David Beery, Course Director

“I started playing around 1998 and 25 years later, I still enjoy disc golf immensely. This June will be my 8th year in the club, but I have been on the board for 5 years. When Alex hurt himself a few years ago, I stepped up to run league. League is a great way to get more people involved in the sport. I love meeting new players and showing them what a great sport this is.”

-Joe Pohl, League Director

“I grew up around this community and sport for 16 years. Its about time I stepped up to help and give back in one of the best ways one can. By joining the clubs board of directors. Keep an eye out, as I will be mixing old ideas with new school twists.”

Morgan Beery, Membership Director

“I started playing in 2018 and absolutely fell in love with the sport. The very same year I joined the club because I saw all of the great things they do for our community. I would feel bad if I couldn’t contribute back to an organization that does so much for all of us. So that has drawn me to be a board member and spread my love for disc golf!”

-Henry “Discin Dingus” Uken, Technology Director

“I’m entering my 5th year of getting back into disc golf after a 8 year break. I felt that after years of reaping the benefits of the club it was time to give back and join the board. I look forward to continuing help grow the community and courses in our area.”

-Keegan Reed, Sponsorship Director
